Salzburg, Austria

We parted ways with the Calders on the 30th of December. They headed back to Germany while we headed on to Austria. I have to say this is a beautiful country! We only had a short time to see the sights in Salzburg, but it was worth it. While still bitterly cold, we experienced a beautiful snowfall during our day on the town.
We toured the Fortress at the top of the hill, walked around the old city, saw where Mozart was born and where he lived, took another horse and carriage ride, saw the cemetery where part of Sound of Music was filmed, played in the snow, and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Everyone was getting ready for the big New Years Eve celebrations -- I'll tell you more about our celebrations after the photos.

See Mozart is standing really still just behind us! I'm trying to watch the skaters on the skating rink!

While everyone else was getting ready for the big fireworks display, we all went to the pool in the hotel. We had a grand time playing, jumping, splashing, and laughing. It was nice family fun before we all were sound asleep long before midnight.
